Our Freckle. Range
Freckle is our original product range. It is designed with our ethos in mind - simplicity and sustainability. Each of the pieces in the range are elegant in form, and adaptable across a range of styles and sectors.
There are no unnecessary materials – with a smooth plywood frame, and minimal use of foam concentrated around comfort and ergonomical contact points.
Freckle takes its name from the circular construction details and buttons on the upholstery.
Chair without arms
The chair without arms is the first piece designed within the Freckle range. Its form is minimal and elegant, and button details on the upholstery and frame feed into the signature Freckle design. Its form leans into the beauty of simplicity and accentuates the elegant silhouette of the seat.
Chair with arms
The chair with arms follows the same design principles as the chair without arms, offering a more comfortable option for users with the additions of arms. Button details on the upholstery and frame feed into the signature Freckle design.
Stool
The chair with arms follows the same design principles as the chair without arms, offering a more comfortable option for users with the additions of arms. Button details on the upholstery and frame feed into the signature Freckle design.
Round table
The Round table offers simplicity to any lounge setting, with its clean lines and elegant form. The Round table utilises the same frame design as the Stool and same design principles as the wider Freckle range.
Story
Space Between Studio was born from an interior design background and a love of furniture.
Space Between Studio was established by Sam Hodgson, John Williams, Dan Hooker and Steve McDonald in 2024 after a shared desire to design sustainable, beautiful furniture products that resonate with creative people everywhere.
We are a commercial furniture manufacturer with pieces that are designed in Manchester and manufactured in Middlesborough.
Space Between Studio’s design approach is simple and timeless, with key inspirations coming through a mix of Scandi design and Northern manufacturing.
Design
Our designer Sam’s background spans over a decade of combined experience in Product Design, Interior Design and CGI, and he holds qualifications in both Product and Interior Design, with a BA (Hons) degree in Product Design and a Masters in Interior Design. He brings all of this experience and knowledge with him alongside a passion for creativity.
Sam’s process for the meticulously designed pieces at Space Between Studio begin with a DIY approach, with the view ‘if the initial idea can’t be made in the garage then it’s too complicated’. The designs are then crafted to the finer details with further iterations and exploration through his strong 3D modelling capabilities before being reviewed alongside a team of Interior Designers and put into production.
Sustainability
We value sustainability and this is ‘built in’ to the design of all our products. Our seat pads are designed with minimal foam and interchangeable to allow parts to be replaced, and all our timbers are responsibly sourced and FSC certified. All of our manufacturing is based in the North of England to reduce our carbon emissions and promote local business. We are a young company with sustainable ambitions and are continuously working on making our practices more and more sustainable as we continue to grow.
